Make crispy, sweet, and spicy Bang Bang Shrimp using an air fryer for a quick appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up a dredging station: Place flour and cornstarch in one shallow dish. Place the beaten egg in a second dish.
  3. Dredge each shrimp first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip the floured shrimp into the egg, letting excess drip off.
  4. Place the coated shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; work in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry at 390 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. While the shrimp cooks, prepare the sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, and garlic powder until smooth.
  7. Place the cooked, crispy shrimp into the bowl with the sauce. Toss gently until all shrimp are coated.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the coated shrimp with cooking spray before air frying.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the heat level of your sauce.
  • Serve over rice or lettuce for a quick meal.
