Make exceptionally crispy tater tots in your air fryer, coated with a savory mix of garlic and Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (28 ounces) frozen tater tots
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen tater tots in a large bowl.
  2. Drizzle the olive oil over the tots and toss them until they are lightly coated.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Sprinkle this seasoning mix over the tots and toss again to coat evenly.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned tots in the air fryer basket in a single layer if possible; work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Air fry for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the basket and shake the tots well.
  8. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the tots are golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the tots from the air fryer. Immediately sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot tots and toss gently so the cheese melts slightly onto the surface.
  10. Transfer the tots to a serving dish and garnish with dried parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Do not thaw the tater tots before cooking; starting from frozen helps achieve maximum crispness.
  • For the best adherence of the Parmesan, add it immediately after the final cooking cycle while the tots are still hot.
  • If you notice the cheese browning too quickly, reduce the temperature to 380°F (195°C) for the last 3 minutes of cooking.
