Enjoy quick, crispy apple hand pies made in your air fryer. These individual treats are perfect for a fast dessert or snack, bringing you the deliciousness of apple pie with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14.1 ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 cup finely chopped apples
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped apples, 1/4 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Stir until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Unroll the pie crusts and cut out circles using a 4-inch round cutter. You should get about 4 circles per crust.
  4. Place about 1 tablespoon of the apple filling onto one half of each pie crust circle. Top with a few small pieces of butter.
  5. Fold the other half of the pie crust over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Brush the tops of the hand pies with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  7. Carefully place the hand pies in the preheated air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch. You may need to cook them in batches.
  8. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Let the hand pies cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter pie, you can add a tablespoon of brown sugar to the apple filling.
  • If your apples are very juicy, you may want to drain some of the excess liquid from the filling before assembling the pies.
  • Feel free to add a pinch of allspice or ginger to the filling for extra flavor.
