1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound ground chicken
1/4 cup chopped water chestnuts
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
8 large lettuce leaves (such as butter or iceberg)
Instructions
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Stir in water chestnuts and green onions.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger powder, and garlic powder.
Pour the sauce over the chicken mixture and stir to combine.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon the chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves.
Serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
You can substitute ground turkey or pork for the chicken.
Garnish with extra green onions or toasted sesame seeds if desired.
