Ingredients
Scale
8 bone-in, skin-on chicken legs (drumsticks)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
Pat the chicken legs completely dry using paper towels. This step helps achieve crispy skin.
In a bowl, toss the chicken legs with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
Arrange the seasoned chicken legs on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
Bake for 25 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove the pan from the oven. Brush the BBQ sauce generously over all sides of the chicken legs.
Return the chicken to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) and the sauce is slightly caramelized.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra crispy skin, place a wire rack on top of the foil-lined baking sheet and place the chicken on the rack. This allows air to circulate around the bottom.
If you prefer a thicker sauce coating, apply a second layer of BBQ sauce during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans for a complete meal.
