Make a creamy, tangy special sauce at home that tastes like your favorite diner or smash burger restaurant style. This sauce is quick to prepare and works well on burgers, fries, or sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon White Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, sugar, smoked paprika, onion powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk all ingredients together until the sauce is completely smooth and uniform in color.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to fully combine.
  4. Taste the sauce after chilling and adjust seasoning if needed. Add more salt or vinegar for tanginess.
  5. Serve cold over your favorite burgers, or use it as a dipping sauce for french fries.

Notes

  • For a slightly sharper flavor, substitute the white vinegar with apple cider vinegar.
  • If you do not have sweet pickle relish, use finely minced dill pickles and add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
  • This sauce keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
