Enjoy these chewy blondies with a rich brown butter flavor and sweet apple pieces. They’re the perfect fall treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter turns a golden brown color and smells nutty. This is your brown butter. Remove from heat.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the brown butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and pecans (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let the blondies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Make sure your butter is truly browned for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overmix the batter; this can make the blondies tough.
  • Adjust baking time based on your oven.
