Create delicious and hearty Cowboy Steak Foil Packets, an easy, all-in-one meal perfect for grilling or camping. These packets combine tender steak, potatoes, and vegetables for a satisfying outdoor dining experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 pound baby potatoes, halved or quartered
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or campfire.
  2. Tear off four large pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil, about 18 inches long each.
  3. Divide the steak cubes evenly among the four foil pieces, placing them in the center.
  4. Distribute the potatoes, onion, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and mushrooms over the steak.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the ingredients in each foil packet.
  7. Bring up the sides of the foil and fold tightly to seal, creating four individual packets. Ensure they are well-sealed to prevent leaks.
  8. Place the foil packets on the preheated grill or directly in the campfire coals.
  9. Grill or cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and the potatoes are tender. Cooking time will vary depending on the heat of your grill or fire.
  10. Carefully remove the packets from the heat. Let them rest for a few minutes before opening.
  11. Open the packets cautiously, as steam will escape.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For softer potatoes, you can parboil them for 5-7 minutes before adding them to the foil packets.
  • Feel free to customize the vegetables based on your preferences. Corn, zucchini, or carrots also work well.
  • If cooking over a campfire, choose a spot with consistent heat and turn the packets occasionally for even cooking.
