  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4 ounce) can green chiles, undrained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Place the cooked meat, chopped onion, kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, green chiles, and beef broth into your slow cooker.
  3. Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the slow cooker. Stir everything together well.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours, or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours.
  5. Stir the chili before serving. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  6. Serve your easy dump chili hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can brown the onion slightly before adding it to the slow cooker.
  • This recipe freezes well; portion it into freezer-safe containers for quick future meals.
  • If you prefer a thicker chili, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking time.
