Make tender, juicy boneless chicken thighs coated in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic sauce using a simple skillet method.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (use tamari for gluten free)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs in the hot skillet and sear for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, ginger, and cornstarch until the cornstarch is dissolved.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring constantly. Let it cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens into a glaze.
  6. Return the cooked chicken thighs to the skillet. Turn the chicken pieces to coat them completely in the honey garlic glaze.
  7. Cook for 1 minute more, turning once, to ensure the chicken is fully glazed. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a thicker glaze, use 1.5 teaspoons of cornstarch instead of 1 teaspoon.
  • Serve this dish over steamed white rice or with roasted broccoli for a complete meal.
  • If you prefer baking, cook the chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes before glazing and broiling briefly.
