Ingredients
Scale
1 teaspoon ceremonial grade matcha powder
2 tablespoons hot (not boiling) water
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1/4 cup coconut milk (full fat recommended)
1 tablespoon sweetener (e.g., agave or simple syrup), adjust to taste
1/4 cup cold water or coconut water
Ice cubes
Instructions
Prepare the mango base: Combine the frozen mango chunks, coconut milk, sweetener, and 1/4 cup cold water or coconut water in a blender. Blend until completely smooth. This mixture should be thick.
Prepare the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl. Add the 2 tablespoons of hot water. Whisk vigorously in a ‘W’ or ‘M’ motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy, with no clumps.
Assemble the drink: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
Pour the mango coconut base over the ice, filling the glass about two-thirds full.
Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the back of a spoon held just above the mango layer. This technique helps create a distinct layer.
Serve immediately with a straw.
Notes
For a thinner base, add more cold water or coconut water to the blender until you reach your desired consistency.
If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the added sweetener, as the mango provides natural sugar.
Use high-quality matcha for the best flavor, as it balances the fruit better.
