Make this simple, refreshing cooler using fresh watermelon and lime juice. It is a perfect thirst quencher for hot weather.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 4 limes)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime slices for garnish
  • Mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed watermelon, lime juice, water, and sugar (if using) into a blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth.
  3. Taste the mixture and add more sugar or lime juice if needed.
  4. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove any pulp. Press down on the solids to extract all liquid.
  5. Chill the watermelon juice mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to get it very cold.
  6. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the chilled watermelon lime mixture over the ice.
  7. Garnish each glass with a lime slice and a mint sprig.

Notes

  • For a slushy texture, freeze half of the watermelon cubes for 2 hours before blending.
  • If you prefer a less sweet drink, omit the added sugar entirely, as watermelon sweetness varies.
  • For an adult version, add 1.5 ounces of white rum or vodka per serving before adding ice.
