Ingredients
Scale
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan or line it with paper liners.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
In a separate bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the pumpkin puree, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
While the donuts are cooling, prepare the glaze. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.
Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the tops into the maple glaze or drizzle it over them. Let the glaze set before enjoying.
Notes
For a richer maple flavor, you can use dark maple syrup in the glaze.
Add a pinch of black pepper to the donut batter for an extra kick of flavor.
If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake these as muffins. Adjust baking time as needed.
