A simple and delicious one-pot shrimp boil, perfect for a summer gathering. This recipe brings the classic Southern seafood boil experience to your kitchen with shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage seasoned to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound small red potatoes, quartered
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 ears of corn, husked and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Combine potatoes, sausage, garlic, lemon halves, Old Bay seasoning, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt in a large pot.
  2. Add enough water to cover the ingredients by about an inch.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  5. Add the corn and cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until pink and cooked through.
  7. Drain the pot, reserving some of the seasoned liquid if desired.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of your favorite hot sauce to the boiling liquid.
  • You can customize the vegetables by adding crawfish, crab legs, or mussels.
  • Adjust the seasonings to your preference for a spicier or milder boil.
