Prepare simple, flavorful tilapia fillets coated in a crispy Parmesan crust using an oven method.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (5 ounce) tilapia fillets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry using paper towels. Brush both sides of each fillet lightly with olive oil.
  3. In a shallow dish, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, parsley, pepper, and salt. Mix these dry ingredients well.
  4. Dredge each oiled tilapia fillet into the Parmesan mixture, pressing gently on both sides to make the crust adhere firmly.
  5. Place the coated fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque throughout and the crust is golden brown and crisp.
  7. Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For an extra crispy crust, you can briefly broil the fish for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • You can substitute panko breadcrumbs for standard breadcrumbs for a lighter texture.
  • If you prefer an air fryer, cook at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes.
