Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 slider buns
  • For the Coleslaw:
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Season the pork shoulder generously with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Place the pork in a Dutch oven or oven-safe pot.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture over the pork.
  5. Cover the pot and cook for 4-5 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender and shreds easily.
  6. Remove the pork from the pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the pot with the sauce and toss to coat.
  7. While the pork is cooking, prepare the coleslaw. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrots.
  8. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, sugar, celery seed, salt, and pepper.
  9. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  10. Warm the slider buns slightly if desired.
  11. Spoon the pulled pork onto the bottom halves of the slider buns.
  12. Top with a generous portion of coleslaw.
  13. Place the top halves of the buns on top and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can also cook the pulled pork in a slow cooker on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the barbecue sauce mixture.
  • Feel free to customize your coleslaw with other vegetables like red onion or bell peppers.
