Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) package crescent roll dough
1 pound bulk pork sausage
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up as it cooks, until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until everything is well combined.
Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Do not separate the triangles; keep the dough in the rectangular sheet form.
Spread the sausage and cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the dough.
Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between them.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the pinwheels ahead of time, place them on the baking sheet, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Add 2-3 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
For extra flavor, use hot pork sausage instead of mild.
If you do not have crescent roll dough, puff pastry works as a substitute for a flakier texture.
