Make a creamy, fluffy whipped hot chocolate quickly using just a few simple ingredients for a decadent warm drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the cocoa powder and granulated sugar. Add the hot water and stir until the cocoa mixture is smooth and dissolved. Set aside.
  2. In a separate, chilled bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  3. Use an electric mixer or a whisk to beat the cream mixture until stiff peaks form. This creates your fluffy topping.
  4. Gently warm the milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot, but not boiling.
  5. Pour the dissolved chocolate mixture into the warm milk and stir well to combine.
  6. Pour the chocolate milk into your serving mug.
  7. Spoon the whipped cream mixture generously on top of the hot chocolate. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, use whole milk or half-and-half for the base.
  • If you do not have an electric mixer, you can still make the topping by vigorously whisking by hand, though it will take longer.
  • You can substitute the granulated sugar in the base with your preferred liquid sweetener, adjusting for taste.
